The recent change was: commit 40e95152 "the wiki" was not updated accordingly.

Instead of removing that file, I prefer to keep it (see previous commit message). Having an attic/ directory is useful for this kind of stuff.

This reverts commit 2f725453. The TODO file is full of knowledge that is best to keep, because that's what the previous maintainer used (you can look the git blame of that file, it's mainly Stefan who modified it).

The warning was: ``` NOTICE: Future-deprecated features used: * 0.55.0: {'ExternalProgram.path'} ``` The full_path() method is available only since Meson 0.55, so bump required meson_version.

An update is required, at least to have a newer version of Meson. If a contributor wants, this would be a useful task (to re-enable GitLab CI and maintain it). See: #153

The "modules:" keyword arg for python.find_installation() is available since Meson 0.51, so increase meson_version requirement. No need to add comments in the meson.build for that, git blame at the line meson_version is easier.

To have fewer variables.

"meson.project_name()" is already quite short to read and to type, and is directly clear what it is. On the contrary, having a variable requires to look where the variable is previously assigned to know what its value is.

There is a logic bug in the initial configuration of gtkdocize, where it replicates the docdir default assignment with the same idiom as the srcdir default assignment, but docdir hasn't been assigned yet. If docdir exists in the environment when gtkdocize is called then this value is used as the source documentation directory, which is unfortunate when $docdir is set alongside $prefix, so is /usr/share/doc. As the intention at this stage of the script is to just set docdir to srcdir, there's no need to look at the current value. !73

Wrapped help message strings are missing spaces which results in joined words, e.g.: --html-dir HTML_DIR The directory where gtk-doc generated documentation isinstalled. Note the "isinstalled" which should be "is installed". Fix by adding missing spaces. !68
